Tom is a talented middle-distance runner specialising in the 800m. He began running at the age of seven before joining Huntingdonshire Athletics Club in 2017. He is coached by Derek Darnell and Kyle Bennett while studying at Loughborough University.

Tom made a breakthrough in 2023, winning both the British U17 indoor and outdoor 800m titles. He continued his progression on the international stage, finishing 5th at the European U18 Championships in 2024 before claiming silver in the 800m at the European U20 Championships in Tampere in 2025. His performance of 1:48.20 secured his place among Europe's leading junior middle-distance runners.

In 2025, Tom also won bronze at the England Athletics U20 Championships, while setting an 800m personal best of 1:46.73. 2026 saw him record a 1500m personal best of 3:54.37 in Loughborough, demonstrating his versatility across middle distances.
