Sam is a two-time Olympic bronze medallist and one of Britain's most exciting young 400m talents. At just 20, Sam made his Olympic debut at Paris 2024 after a late call-up to the Great Britain team, going on to win bronze in both the mixed 4x400m relay and the men's 4x400m relay. His breakthrough individual performance came just days before the Games, when he won the men's 400m at the London Athletics Meet in a personal best of 44.70 seconds. In 2025, Sam continued his rapid progression, winning the individual 400m at the European Team Championships in Madrid in a championship-record and new personal-best time of 44.60. He was subsequently selected for the Great Britain team at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, reaching the semi-finals of the 400m at his first individual global championships.

A 400m athlete with a background in 800m running, Sam won his first British Indoor 400m title in 2023 and has run 1:45.95 for 800m. He has been coached by Nigel Stickings at Blackheath & Bromley Harriers since his junior career and represents adidas when competing internationally.

Away from athletics, Sam is an ambassador for Brain Tumour Research and he also supports the High Performance Foundation. Sam's combination of Olympic success, exceptional versatility and continued progression makes him one of the leading young talents in British middle-distance and one-lap athletics.
